“Your feet shod with the preparation of the Gospel of peace.”

Feet Shod

Shod – Past tense verb meaning having already done this.
Shoes are necessary for standing. They speak of the foundation. We need a good, solid foundation, and preparation is foundational. I remember in hand-to-hand combat we were taught to make sure our feet were anchored.
1 Corinthians 3:11 KJV 1900
For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
Listen to this parable that Jesus tells while giving the Sermon on the Mount (). This story falls in right after Jesus’ warning about false prophets and false professions.
Matthew 7:24–27 KJV 1900
Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.
Are your feet anchored on the rock? Christ is your foundation in this world. No other foundation can any man lay but the one that is laid, Jesus Christ (see ). We are to put on Christ. Oh how we need Him today as we face a world disputing truth and also the spiritual wickedness in the darkness of this world!
Roman Soldiers wore boots with nails in them to grip the ground in combat.
1 Corinthians 3:11 KJV 1900
For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.

Preparation

Defined – the action or process of making something ready for use for a particular purpose or service or of getting ready for some occasion, test, or duty. “Readiness”
The Greek word rendered “preparation” or “readiness” found here in can also be translated “prepared foundation” – in other words, a firm basis for a soldier’s feet.
Ephesians 6:15 KJV 1900
And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

Gospel – Good News

– Good News

Peace

– a concept in the bible that most commonly relates to a relationship of Love and loyalty with God and one another.

The Gospel of Peace

is the verse that caused me to get of my rump and return to ministry and preaching.
Romans 10:15 KJV 1900
And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!

Peace

What is peace?

Peace is defined as a concept in the bible that most commonly relates to a relationship of Love and loyalty with God and one another.
The word Peace has several other uses –
Absence of conflict among Christians. The Lord wants believers to live in peace and unity with one another. (, )
1 Thessalonians 5:13 KJV 1900
And to esteem them very highly in love for their work’s sake. And be at peace among yourselves.
John 13:35 KJV 1900
By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.
Absence of worry. This peace is the confidence that God has everything under control. ()
Matthew 6:25–34 KJV 1900
Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature? And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.
Peace is not the absence of trouble. It is being in the presence of Christ while in the midst of that trouble.
The gospel of peace pertains to the good news that, through Christ, believers are at peace with God and he is on their side (rom 5:6-10). It is that confidence of Devine support which allows the believer to stand firm, knowing that since he is at peace with God, God is his strength (see rom 8:31, 37-39).

Romans 5:6–10 KJV 1900
For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.
Romans 8:31 KJV 1900
What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?
Romans 8:37–39 KJV 1900
Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 8:31 KJV 1900

The gospel of peace is the good news that we can have peace with God. Before we turned to Jesus we wanted to live for ourselves. We did not care about God’s plans. We were in conflict. But God loves us and made a way of being reconciled with him and living in peace.
Absence of conflict among Christians. The Lord wants believers to live in peace and unity with one another. (, )
Absence of worry. This peace is the confidence that God has everything under control. ()
Satan would like for us to think that sharing the gospel of good news is a worthless an hopeless task. He will even try to discourage us by saying the task is to big or the rejections and looks are just to much to handle. For me; he used man and had convinced me that because I was divorced that I wasn’t worthy of sharing the gospel or proclaiming the good news.

If I had stayed in the truth, I would have realized this is nothing more than a lie.
The shoes God gives us are the motivation to continue proclaiming the gospel. Through the grace we have received we want to share it with everyone no matter how the gospel is received.
